Reservations
Ready to come up?
Reservations are required to guarantee entry — weekends sell out. Walk-ins welcome when there’s room. Every guest signs a waiver, and socks are required in the lounge.
Book a visit
Cancel 24+ hours ahead for a refund (less 4% processing) or reschedule. Under 24 hours and same-day bookings are final. Events need 48 hours.

Every cat in the lounge is a rescue from Homeless Tails, a 501(c)(3) no-kill rescue in nearby Wayne. If you fall for someone, you apply online, the cat goes on hold, and Homeless Tails schedules a Zoom interview within about a week. They make the final match — that’s what keeps it responsible.
$225 / $400One cat / a bonded pair. Includes spay-neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, and often a microchip.
25+Adopters must be 25 or older and employed. Renters bring a lease that permits cats.

Catfé isn’t a café with cats in it — it’s a haven where rescued cats get socialized, loved on, and ready for their forever homes. Every guest who books a session becomes, in Catfé’s own words, “an active participant in our mission.” The hour you spend playing with a shy rescue is the hour that makes them adoptable.
Founded by Tara Ford in early 2024, the lounge runs on love, compassion, and the conviction that adoption transforms two lives at once — the cat’s and yours. Every resident arrives through Homeless Tails and leaves when they find their person.

Do I need a reservation?
Yes — reservations are required to guarantee entry, and weekends regularly sell out. Walk-ins are welcome only when there's space.
Where exactly is Catfé? How do I get upstairs?
356 Bloomfield Ave in Montclair — look for the street door and head up to the 2nd floor. The lounge is at the top of the stairs.
How long is a session and how much does it cost?
30 minutes is $15 (ages 7+), 60 minutes is $28 (ages 12+). If slots are open you can extend up to 2 hours.
Is coffee included?
Yes — complimentary self-serve coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are included with every session.
Can children visit?
Kids 7 and up are welcome. Ages 7–11 visit in 30-minute sessions with one adult per three children. Special 5+ family events run on select mornings.
Can I adopt a cat? How does it work?
Yes — every resident is adoptable through Homeless Tails, a 501(c)(3) rescue. Apply online, the cat goes on hold, and you'll have a Zoom interview within about a week. $225 for one cat, $400 for two; adopters must be 25+.
What happens if I'm late?
Your session still ends on time — late arrivals can't be extended, so aim to arrive a few minutes early.
Can I host a private event?
Yes — the lounge hosts private events for 1 to 12 people. Email meow@catfemontclair.com for pricing and dates.
What's the cancellation policy?

Anything else I should know?
Socks are required in the Cat Lounge (they sell cute ones if you forget), and every guest — including each child — signs a waiver before entering.
